Out of the Puddle

Fred decided there was not much to do but attempt to dry off. Perturbed
at his situation, he cared little for what his two companions would do
once out of the puddle. "If I can't find this dragon," he reasoned to
himself, "then I will never even have the chance to complete my mission."
He had questioned his ability to defeat the dragon on occasion, but now he
found new courage in the idea that never finding the dragon was worse than
finding him and failing to kill him. As Fred proceeded to remove himself
from the puddle, he wondered if everything he had in his pack was ruined.
He decided to take an inventory of what items were still useful.
As he did so, Astra looked at Fred. He was an odd man, very determined
and noble. She wasn't sure she had ever met a man like this. Suddenly a
flash of light shot through the cave, and the two realized that they were
back in the room where Fred had first met Astra, chained to the wall.
Fred returned to his present mission - searching his pack for undestroyed
items.
