Ignorant of science, all Astra could think was that a truly enormous source of magical energy must be providing the light. And, though it seemed a cold light, it appeared to be adequate for the growing of crops. Could even the dragon have that much power? If he did (the dragon was universally assumed to be male, though no one really knew for sure), then her own mission to kill him seemed doomed.
On the far side of the farm was a long ridge, and - though the light was diffuse - she thought that it seemed rather brighter in that direction, as though the source might lie somewhere on the far side.
