"Great," Stacy groaned. "One more potential problem." "We will have to hope for the best," the alien replied philosophically. "If others on your planet have discovered the ship, you will simply have to deal with them. If worst comes to worst, our team can reveal themselves to the humans and erase their memories afterwards." "Oh, yes," said Stacy, "that reminds me. The reason I was on that ship of yours in the first place is that your friends did some scans on me, and there was an equipment malfunction of some sort..." The alien looked at her in concern. "Is your hair falling out?" "No!" yelled Stacy, her pent-up frustration and fear finally coming through in her voice, "My memory's fallen out! I've got massive amnesia thanks to your people, and... and..." She faltered, took a deep breath, and continued more calmly. "And they said they could reimplant some of my memories. Do you think that will be possible now?" The alien laid a hand on Stacy's shoulder in a gesture she supposed was meant to be comforting. "We will include the appropriate technical people in the team. It should be quite possible." Stacy took another deep breath, feeling at least some of the tension go out of her. "Thank you," she said. "At least that's something." "For now," the alien said, "we must prepare for the journey back to Earth."
