The magician, Mirdox, looks up when she enters his quarters. "Good morning, your Highness," he says. "What can I do for you?" She lowers herself into a chair, her pregnant belly suddenly strangely foreign to her. "Mirdox, I'm not feeling well." "You think it is something magical? You must, or you'd have gone to the healer." "I think," she says, and then lays it all out on the line, "that I've just come out of a very long love curse." Mirdox just stares at her for a very long moment, and then is suddenly flying all over the room, looking in spell books and examining vials. "Of course," he says, sounding terribly excited. "What sort of magician am I, that I never even thought of this before?" To his credit, he's been at the castle for only two years, and has spent much of the time trying to find cures for the various ailments of Diana's sickly youngest daughter. Mirdox suddenly looks at Diana. "So... at this moment, how do you feel about your husband the king?" Diana frowns, eyebrows drawn together. "I... I'm not sure. Not much, really. I'd have to see him to really be able to tell you..." "But you've spent the last two years—and, as I hear, much more than that as well—positively obsessed with him," Mirdox cries. "May I ask how you met?" Diana has to cast her mind back quite a bit. "I was in his home village and I saw him through a window working in his father's inn... and... I fell in love with him." "Certainly sounds like love at first sight to me," Mirdox says. "And that's only ever brought on by a potion or spell. What were you doing in the village? Anything that might upset someone powerful?" "No, I... I'd just been in the castle of a witch. I... I can't remember her name... but I was with a man, and I can't remember his name either..." She growls in frustration. "The witch turned the man into a shoe, and she put a love spell on me and sent me to a village. Because we intruded in her chambers." "Goodness," Mirdox says. "Your obsessive behavior, everything makes sense now... I shan't waste more time by asking you to explain what you were doing in a witch's chamber. What do you plan to do now?"
