While out hunting one day, the aging king catches pneumonia, and dies overnight. All the castle is in mourning, but Diana hardly notices what's happening. Her children mourn her father more than she does; she's too absorbed in her love for Connar. And then he is crowned king despite being obviously unfit for the throne, and Diana can do nothing but admire how good he looks in his crown. One morning, when Diana is nearly nine months pregnant with her sixth child, she wakes up feeling sick. She vomits into her chamber pot, and then sits up, wiping her mouth and looking around, dazed. She knows she is married to Connar and has several children. But somehow she feels detached from this reality. And at the current moment, physically, she feels like she's just been spun around in circles for a very long time and has finally been allowed to stop—but she's very, very dizzy. She wakes up in the healer's room with a wet cloth on her forehead. "The King found you unconscious on your chamber floor, your Highness," the healer says. "What happened?" "Got dizzy," she murmurs, sitting up. "It likely is just because you'll be going into labor soon, Majesty," the healer says. "Nothing to fret about." "Probably," she mutters. After a pause, she continues, "Hey, Tanner... I've been married to Connar for... how long?" The healer cocks his head, but says, "Nearly eleven years, Majesty." Diana very suddenly feels like vomiting again. "Right... How the time flies." "Indeed, Majesty. Well, you should be fine, if you just take it easy. You may go at any time, but do come back to me if you feel discomfort of any kind." Diana goes to...
