In Which Diana is Sleepy

"I'm tired," Diana announces, and slides off the chair.

"Tired?" the witch responds, face puzzled. "Honey, you've only just woken up."

"But I am tired," Diana affirms, rubbing her eyes.

"Maybe it's another side effect," the witch murmurs worriedly. "Okay, you can have a nap, but I'm getting you up soon. Okay?"

It takes Diana a while to find her way back to the green room, due to the unfamiliarity and her tiredness. When she does, she slides back under the covers, and closes her eyes.

She's exhausted, so much so that she can't think straight, but no matter how long she lies there she cannot go to sleep. She's this close to crying in frustration when the witch appears again at her door. "Sweetie, naptime's over," the witch says.

"I never got to go to sleep!" Diana cries.

"But you said you were tired," the witch responds, puzzled yet again.

"I am." Diana buries her face under the covers.

Zenobia approaches the bed and sits on the edge. Laying her hand on the girl's forehead, she says, "Then sleep."

She may sound concerned, but she's suppressing a smile. The hexed gingerbread is working perfectly. Diana will...

1. Be chronically exhausted, which will result in abnormally long periods of sleep, impaired thinking, and physical weakness.
2. Soon fall into a ten-year slumber, at the end of which she will awaken as a fifteen-year-old, and be even more confused and miserable.
3. Never be able to sleep again, yet will have normal longevity, which will eventually result in insanity.
