Stacy was unsure whether she should be glad or worried by this news. At least something was going to be done, but a war might well put Robert's life at risk, either through some act of revenge by his captors or simply as an unlucky casualty.

The alien continued:

  1. "In the meantime, we will return you to your own planet."
  2. "We will take you to our own homeworld to wait for news of your brother."
  3. "This vessel will join the fleet. You can stay onboard if you wish, though you will have to sign a form accepting that it is at your own risk."
  4. "We are going to send in a small party in advance of the main fleet to try to get your brother out without being detected."
