The Never Ending Quest - episode 74413

Reika

We'd soon gotten bored with the stiffs in that particular corner of the party, so skipped over to the "Happy Days" section. Nice enough time there. Loved the music of that era and at least those cosplayers were closer to true to character than most others about that corporate party. That and a lot less serious about their roleplaying, at that.

I mean, point out of character some of those people who were cosplaying Neon Genesis Evangelion characters and watch how they’ll bristle. If anyone should know how NGE works should it not be someone FROM a reality which is NGE based?

Well, maybe not but still at least those Happy Days people aren’t . . .hadn’t been stuck up.

I mean they actually laughed in appreciation at the very simple “ABC” joke Rei made there. Yes, one of the Fonzy cosplayers would go “Aye!” like you’d see on TV and Rei picked up on it by going: “B! C! D!” and so forth.

. . .

Well, it was funny actually at the time. Guess you had to be there but . . .then again I am kind of glad that you hadn’t been. What happened when the hit squad crashed the party was NOT pretty. Security got compromised and didn’t do diddely for us so I and those who’d been secretly armed . . .

It was a bloodbath we couldn’t prevent. We’d gone under prepared, assured that the measures that those who were throwing the party would be more than sufficient. I mean in a world ruled by mega-corporations should they be able to afford the best in security?

Not in this case, apparently. It was a trap which even armed with what we had . . .we would have been outmatched if we stood and fought. Plasma weaponry is good, but ours were “semi-auto“ to their more primitive (but quiet deadly) automatic weaponry. Not something one tries and should expect to win, friend. We had to shoot our way out and me and my friends BARELY made it (most of them). Some . . .I don’t know what happened. But I do know that WE were part of the hit, now.

We were safe for the moment, but that wasn’t the end of it. See, we found that either our supposedly secure safe houses and such were compromised, destroyed, or . . .trapped. Our means of calling for help was destroyed, so we were cut off... So in the end we had to go with extreme measures. I wasn’t going to split up (better chance of escaping with our lives) from my sisters so we went off on our own means of escape: this bucket of bolts! Do hope that the others got away. Had planned on looking them up somehow (later) and . . .

Well, that plan went to Hell in hand basket! And if we don’t get OFF this bucket then it and it’s crew may get more than it bargained for here.

Champions are only allowed a set period of time away from their home base reality before something happens...

Quickly deciding on haste, I activate the emergency revival process on the chambers where my sisters are still sleeping, safe and sound. Strapped up comfortably within.

. . .

I’m glad that they didn’t wake up like I woke up, though this process isn’t going to be pleasant for them...

Robotic injectors pump counter-agents into Rei and Lilith as I watch, seeing them shudder in reaction as it goes to work.

Soon enough...

  1. “Oh my head,” Lilith mutters, groaning softly right before the entire ship lurched violently!
