Minestus (looks exactly like the images my friends shared with me before we’d come), already puzzled by the elf, then glances our way and does a double take.

"Yes, she’s with us, cousin." I smile (which I fear might be a little frosty). "Can we help you with . . . . something?"

Even if I am rather new to dragonkind, I find I still cannot say that I care to be stared at…

"Yes, we’ve gone into a joint venture with the human’s and elf here," I put in, putting in our ‘cover story’ before Minestus can ask. "Though these are unfortunately chaotic times in this land, the old saw of ‘chaos presents opportunity for profit’ seems to apply. It’s a way for increasing one’s Hoard. I find that ventures like this are much more . . . profitable and agreeable than some of the more bloody traditional means, eh?"

"Do tell!" he blinks, nodding in approval. "Some of those means turn my stomach, really! Hale right back from that bloody click, the Council of Dragons, tried to impose it’s agenda on all dragonkind. Glad that that got put down just like the former Great Kindgom got put down! If it wasn’t acceptable then, then it’s not acceptable now, so say I!"

Okay. Not a megalomaniac with aspirations for godhood, but instead a wide eyed extremist. Cannot say that I’m reassured.

"Right," I say. "But I hear that things are starting to ‘fall apart’, chaos or no? Isn’t there someone or a group trying to fill the vacuum here? That’s the usual way things work, you know."

Well, not always but then again I’m asking more for a "fishing expedition" than idle curiosity. Best bet would be this dragon, who is rather responsible for this current mess (in one fashion or another). Not saying that this fascist version of Allaria didn’t have something coming to it, but let’s not try to dismiss our "friend" here’s hand in it’s bloody downfall!
