The Doctor and the others look around at the heat shimmer that appears
for a grand total of five seconds and then disappears just as quickly.
They had been expecting that but then they stare at the Main Viewer and
stare at the image that fills the skies. It is an image of a red haired
woman that looks to be relatively short in comparison to immensely large
sets of barrels and other paraphernalia found in mechanic garages everywhere.
Ragan blushes as she recognizes the figure. It's a mirror image of her
new body....and she can see that this image seems to be rather....naked.
The others then turn and look at Ragan and then back at the figure on the
screen.....before everything seems to freeze for a second and then changes
to something more.... normal.
They have the oddest feeling that they are the only ones on the entire
Earth who remember seeing that rather......unworldly seen. Nothing that
they could put a finger on, but they feel it none the less.
"Well, we're here," the Doctor says finally, recovering. "And a nice
system it is, even if the sun is a bit more blue than old Sol."
Betty and the others gape up at the image of the blue giant up at high
noon (where as before it had been in something like a little over an hour
to sundown.....
"The.....this Earth is in orbit around a blue giant instead of a yellow......"
Ragan finally gags, envisioning that nobody but NOBODBY wouldn't notice
THAT. The fat was in the fire, now and panic probably was on it's way with
the
"Let's.....get to the VLA," Betty finally says, finally getting her
voice back.
A man, already shellshocked at what he has seen in the sky (first a
dragon...and now this change in the SUN?!), only blinks in surprise as
he sees a blue English police box vanish from in front of one of his neighbors
trailers.
The man then squares his shoulders and heads towards the nearest bar.
That cuts it. If nothing else....if the world was going to be ending, then
he d**n well was going to be blitzed when it happened!
He doesn't see an identical police box appear in the very spot of the
other box. Nor does he see a two women and a man dressed as a dandy with
a shock of white hair disembark from it and climb inside the trailer. Nor
do they hear the shouts of surprise as the Betty of THIS world give off
as she listens to the taped conversation between Inquirer and Doctor Who.
The tape machine had continued recording even after Dr. Who had answered
the machine....
"My sister came for a surprise visit?" Betty Ragan of this world asks
nobody in particular.
"Looks like she is the one who got the surprise," Dr. What says while
Betty absently pets Nova's head.
The Doctor, silently appreciating the responsive handling of his new
TARDIS (his old Type 40 had been still a bit difficult to steer at times),
materializes it within the very control center of the VLA.
"Let us get to it," he says as he heads to the door, only to stop when
a gun wielding woman who has a rather blank look on her face walks up and
waits just outside the door. She had apparently heard the noise and come
to investigate.
"Oh dear," the Doctor sighs. Every other time he landed nobody had been
around with a gun at the ready......
-
"Let's not
have a repeat of what happened to you in the premier television movie,"
Ragan sighs, "I know that you won't regenerate....but I think none of use
want to get shot......."
