The top of the white staircase
Endless Perspectives - episode 85701
Lacking a good idea for anything else to do, Betty ascended the white staircase
and stopped at the top, looking around her. Yes, she recognized this place,
all right: it was the ballroom from Game 2, looking much the way she'd
always pictured it. There above her was the cobwebby chandelier. Faded
tapestries adorned the walls, just as she remembered. Over there was the
long table with the tarnished silverware. The oak door, the passageway
to the right, the two small doors flanking the stairway... it was all strangely
familiar, considering that she'd never physcially been in this place in
her life. "If I'm even physically here now," she muttered to herself, then
dismissed that kind of metaphysical speculation for the moment. (Wasn't
there a room for that kind of thing around here somewhere else?)
She was startled briefly by a muffled noise from behind one of the doors.
Oh, yes, she thought. That'd be the goblin. I think we'll want to avoid
THAT, thankyouverymuch!
-
She walked
across the room and entered the double doors.
-
She decided to try the non-noisy door near the stairwell.
-
She wandered over to investigate (and probably get sucked into) the tapestries.
-
She walked idly over to examine the table.
-
She turned and walked down the hallway.
