The Never Ending Quest - Episode 44314

Inquirer

Meanwhile, down on the street near 1187 at Hunterwasser . . .

You know, somehow I have a distinct feeling that these Replicants had something more put into them than the regular, run of the mill genes. No, I’m not talking about the ones that curse them with such wretchedly short lifespans (you should have HEARD Chiana’s and Aeryn Pip’s reaction to that one when they’d heard that). Even with me being utterly stealthy whilst wearing my Atlantian Cloak of Invisibility I still see them glancing my way as if catching something in the corner of their eyes. Guess there must be some kind of combat reflex attribute they’d instilled inside soldier Replicants…

Well, whatever, that’s later as I’m shadowing them while they’re walking their way down the street to Eyeworld (my, does everything around here have to keep mimicking the movie to such close detail?).

Oh, not saying that it’ll stay true to movie script. Given how verbally abusive my brother, Elrondir, had planned on being with Rachael (to keep her out of harms way, this business COULD get extremely ugly) how COULD it? No, don’t need her getting into the middle of things, even though I hate the idea of how it’ll hurt her feelings.

She’ll get over it, those hurt feelings. That is much more likely if she stays AWAY than if she somehow gets into the middle of things. Cannot stand the thought of a civilian like that…

. . . .

Sigh, nevermind. Let’s keep to business.

Before now, while I’d been eavesdropping, things had surprisingly enough been going pretty much as I remember them from the movie (either Director’s Cut or one of my brother’s beloved “voice over” editions). Oh, there had been differences (natch), but all in all it went as it had in the movie, the scene I’d eavesdropped in on here.

Had overheard the tail end of the conversation between him and Pris (oh yes, the Replicants here do have something for each other). He’d finished off by telling Pris to stay pat where she’s holed up at until he contacts her next. Know how it had gone in the movie what Pris had done after that, just as planned, but right now . . .

Right now, only Creator knows where Pris is located right now. That’s good because it means that as of YET she’s not in our way. That could change, you know.

See, some real estate of this megacity both my group and Roy ‘s group be interested in, really soon enough. Place in question is the Tyrell Corporate building. Somewhere inside, it looks like at least ONE of our targets is still holed up. Probably not in a spot where we might run into Roy when/if it managed to worm his way inside, but still a danger. But then there is where our dropoff point is that concerns me. It’s in Tyrell’s bedroom and in the movie that’s where Roy was able to finally get to talk with Tyrell in his quest for more life for himself and his friends (and got rather bad news in the movie). Don’t need the rampage he went on (sorta) happening if WE happen to be trying to make the dropoff. Would have to hurt HIM if he tries to kill me and my friends.

. . .

I see you’re shaking your head and asking yourself why it seems I feel we’re destined to meet with Roy’s group. You say I could just let Roy’s group go hang and avoid them? Just let them go their way and us our way, not interfering? Let them go and get their asses handed to them by the Bladerunner OR perhaps find what they’re after on their own? Well, the problem here besides it being too late (we’ve already stepped in and bagged Decker, to get a man inside for reasons already stated) they have one of our other targets, it appears!

The other (Phylicia) is holed up with Zhora (!) from what I’ll later overhear, so that is a bit of “real estate” (one could joke) that overlaps as well. Just why Roy’s gang continues to hang onto her vice dumping her (that would be the proper “cyberpunk” thing to do) on the street, to be prey for whatever freak or gutterpunk I have no real idea. It appears that that mysterious “psionic powers” (somehow I feel that there is magic in the air, really) is in play, bringing out aspects of personality not usually displayed to those outside their “unit”.

That’s something to puzzle out later, maybe. Right now, it’s not important. See, they HAVE Phylicia! We would need to a t least steal her away from Roy’s group to complete OUR Quest, right? Wouldn’t THAT be interfering? Yes, it would! Don’t try to argue with me, it would. Not like they’re going to just HAND her over without a fight, I fear. She’s . . . . become something of a keepsake, I feel.

Anyway, the point is that we’re bound to have some kind of interaction with Roy’s group. Why not do it in typical Whovian fashion.

Intervention, that’s for me!! Besides, even though I have said I’m not exactly . . . thrilled with Roy and his gang (for reasons I already said), I’m not going to start splitting hairs over the merits of who should live and who should die and....

Look, let's drop this line of conversation, okay? It's kind of annoying me right now and I've got a job to do.

Yes, anyway they'd pretty much did and said the same (or relatively similar) lines as seen in the movie scene (except for the fact that Leon had been able to get his "precious photos" this time around, just a step ahead of the policemen). Conversation still plays out the same, like I'd said, but a little bit added It's only a little bit about what an odd phenomon in the news had been seen by Roy about the "Babylon effect" (the TARDIS in action but that's OUR little secret) that seemed to be sweeping the city.

In another place and time, that would have been a real piece of conversation between the Replicants, but they're more concerned about their approaching genetically mandated demise to really give it more thought. Priorities...

Well, anyway, they're now at the doorway of Eyeworld, and that's my cue. Those inside (the oriental technician and guardsman) have been magically put asleep and stuffed into a side broomcloset for safekeeping. Time for the show! If they refuse, then frell 'em! As long as they stay OUT of our way, that is.... then it could get ugly if they don't...

  1. Leon and Roy blink in consternation as I (still invisible) open and close the door a few seconds after they'd entered the building. Not every day they see an "ordinary" (nonpowered) door apparently open and close itself, I'll bet!
