A devious plan. Must thank Chiana....

The Never Ending Quest - Episode 41010

Inquirer

"Oh, simply this suggestion," I begin, sounding glib.

Must thank Chiana for this plan. Oh, I had a few ideas and workable schemes, but this!....

Simple. Elegant. And quicker by quiet a lot! Good, considering I . . . rather don't care for Sikozu. Understand where she comes from. Understand some of her reasoning but I just don't approve. Other ways of going about her mission than what....

Nevermind. Not something I'm going to argue over, operative to operative (retired, but I still remember).....

No, don't care for her, but I feel for the Kalish. Never met a Scaran in person but the tales Chiana tells....

Yeah, makes the Peace Keepers seem nice in comparison.

In the course of things I tell her about this one special flower (draws a surprised look when I tell her where at least one garden's located, let's just say) that the Scaran high echelons need to boost their brainpower. Without those flowers (which have somehow ended up on Earth, great for bird feeding), an ordinary dog could beat them at checkers! Useful at striking a blow, if they somehow manage to kill that garden (there and elsewhere). Maybe enough to overthrow overlord on their own (preferable) than outside help (ala the PK), but I'm going to leave that to them. Probably doing too much as it is (but that's on ME).

Hey, somethings gotta be done.

...

The plan itself is simplicity itself. Made all the easier by the rather . . . simple nature of the Grudeks. A little bit of magic from Sigin (use the word "psionics" to not put our poor little biloid even more into dismay....she gets so very upset over seeing and experiencing things she cannot understand I've noticed) will erase short term memory. We kind of....

....

Sigh. Nothing really life threatening, but we've got to make this look real!

We rough the Grudeks up in a manner consistent with them getting jarred about from explosions. Sikozu will tell the disoriented (and amnesia suffering) Grudeks that their precious Hound got antsy and tore something it should have which caused....

"A small . . . air fuel explosion?" she blinks, seeing where I'm going.

"Not the whole supply of that . . .stuff they use for the defleshing," I explain. "Just a small stash that they'd put off to the side before shlepping all together for the job in the Den. Just have to ask you if you know of any place inside that could . . . cause damage enough to the ship that wouldn't toast it instantly, but eventually would destroy the Leviathan into tiny little pieces . . . .sort of like what got sucked down into the wormhole into...."

Yeah, Starburst did such a number on that brain dead Leviathan that little if anything was left of that Control Collar. Not enough for a Grudeks to tell it's not the one Sikozu (and pirates) landed on there...

By contract, the story will be, Sikozu managed to get the severely injured survivors to a Pod she managed to get fly (one she found in another Maintenance Bay, Levaithans have more than one, sometimes). Hopefully, the Grudeks will buy it and count themselves lucky to be alive.

"Hopefully count themselves lucky to have you as an employee so much that they not only not try to KILL you, " I finish up. "But reward you for such great loyalty despite this . . . unfortunate misunderstanding."

"They . . .would ....should see me as loyal enough that . . . I am no danger to them," she says softly, eyes glowing. "I would have....yes, it would work! Such a favor I did them that I'd surely win favor!"

"And they not kill you to silence you over this Sacred Ground," I say, nodding.

She looks at me, admiration in her eyes.

She knows it's still a gamble. These particular pirates are rather . . . dense. They might still fail to see things her way, but still.

"Thank you!" she breaths.

"Thank Chiana," I say, causing her to blink. "She'd tell you this scheme herself but . . . you and she don't . . . ."

I shrug.

Well, it gets rid of her and gets rid of the still sleeping Grudeks, anyway.

Won't bore you with how we got one of the more beat up (but functional) Transport Pods onto the TARDIS for this ride and all the messy details afterwards. Forcing a bit of Lethe water down each of the slumbering Grudeks throats was harder than it sounds, believe me....

We wish her luck as she departs (with the Grudeks sleep spell programmed to awaken them soon enough for the biloid's pitch).

"And goood riddance," B'Elanna mutters. She'd not been taken too well over our mercenary Sikozu as well!

Whatever the case, it's out of our hands. That and our Quest here is done and we succeeded!

And hot d*mn, it's nice not having any incidental music playing in the background and MORE!

Back on Terra Prime. My, the place never looked so good!

Kind of was getting tired of the Unexplored Territories, really. Don't tell Chiana, though. She'd not appreciate it.

"Home," Chiana whispers, looking around.

Or perhaps she does. Terra Prime kinda does grow on you after awhile....

At least we get a small break time. Time enough for tea (which Chiana finds she rather likes). Time enough to toast in our newest Champion here who did a LOT to help!

....

Do have to admit surprise, though. We got back before Jarlath's group! Usually he's back before us....

  1. But anyway, our next Quest (should we decide to accept, as John might be in the wont of saying) is....
