The TARDIS dematerializes (after Betty and Ragan invites Leela to
touch a control on the control column). After the Doctor (the Time Lord
one) recovers in the Zero Room, he sets the TARDIS towards Dr. What's Galifrey
and that universe's Romana. She's talking with her co-worker, Lady Rodan.
"Please, no more psychological terms to describe our relationship,"
Rodan said in an exasperated voice, shaking her head.
It had looked so promising when she'd gotten news that someone new was
going to be sent down to her dismal realm to aid in this drudgery. Frankly,
while recent "upgrades" to her workstation had made her life more "challenging"
(her job now encompassing more tasks than before), it had not alleviated
the tedium she faced here. More dull routines didn't mean a more interesting
occupation. Another soul to speak with would surely make things better.
Surely....
The woman that was being assigned was a real "go getter" as they say
on that one Renegade's home away from home (Earth?) Graduated not only
Triple First but years early! Few who challenge succeed in advancing. Indeed,
there was great risk in "challenging". Fail and you'd be dismissed without
recourse!
She'd arrived and fora while it looked like they'd strike it off famously.
They had similar personalities, Rodan noticed. The problem was, however
(something that neither Rodan nor "Romana" would admit), was that they
were so.....similar in personality.
Romana (a name that she only grudgingly now accepted....Rodan refused
to try to keep calling her by her full, long name) was technically competent
enough. Very knowledgeable, actually, with the latest knowledge provided
straight from the Academy.....
But......they just didn't get along. That, and the young lady appeared
soon to be even less satisfied with her first assigned job. Both she and
Rodan new that this would only make the passing decades pass even slower
than before.
"Negative empathy indeed!" Rodan grumped, annoyed.
It's just about this time that the com panel begins to flash. It was
Lady Romana's turn to answer, and the young Time Lady (technically a female
Time Lord) answered with a trace of boredom in her voice. She barely keeps
out putting in a sigh at the end as she gives her opening greeting.

"This is
the Doctor requesting permission to land, over?" the voice said over the
com panel's speaker.
