Leela and E'eysha cheer, seeing something good has come and it looks
all is well, but something slightly unplanned has occurred as the Champions
back in the ship are standing in the dark with a glittering blue crystal...
A call is put out by Inquirer and the Doctor of the Voyager comes to
lend medical aid to the Doctor of the Time Lords.
As he works over the unconscious Time Lord, a pleasant (if slightly
tipsy) male voice begins to echo throughout the chamber."
"....they call me Mellow Yellow....."
"Sounds like Xoanon feels better now," Inquirer mutters, nodding at
the welcome readings she's seeing on the tricorder.
Now, as an aside, one may ask what was meant by "unplanned" business?
Well, it soon becomes apparent that it is just a little too quiet
on the Sevateem's island enclave. No, all the people (Tesh and Sevateem)
are still alive and well (albeit sleeping). Rather, it's the animal life.
See, Xoanon always played a hand in maintaining the equilibrium of the
ecology inside the enclave, lowering things like the game animals population
that the Sevateem depend upon to control their actions (like enforcing
where they live and when they attack the Wall). Well, during the struggle
with the Doctor, Xoanon inadvertently sent a impulse out that killed every
last animal and plant within the enclave.....
Needless to say, when the Champions and others discover this, they are
less than thrilled. A guarded truce is called between the Tesh and the
Sevateem, talks centering around food and who'd lead...now that things
had changed. The leader of the Tesh becomes very insulting, saying that
his people would never accept the leadership "of a mindless savage." Andor
(sans Neeva....who'd....regrettably died when Andor...er....somebody
shot a crossbow into his back during battle....and he fell into that pit....regrettable),
get a bit red at this and it looks like it'll become violent when Jared
Cofflin, tired by this needless arguments....lays down the facts. In doing
so, telling the strangers "who is who" and "what is what".
"Gentlemen....and I use the term lightly," the Chief Executive
drawls, looking scornfully at both leaders, "I seem to get the idea that
you plan on 'setting up camp' here on Nantucket? Start hunting around to
replenish the old food stores and such?"
"But of course....." the leader of the Tesh begins to say, only to be
interrupted by a harsh barking laugh from the former sheriff turn leader
of Nantucket.
"This land is our land....not your land," Jared explains simply,
"No outsider hunting allowed. Isn't like Xoanon is and your ship are going
to be able to help now....."
The short of it was that either the two tribes made peace with each
other and settle down peaceful like here in Nantucket, or they get the
H*ll out of here....and try to make do on the mainland. As fine as hunters
as both sides might be back on their old world.....it was a bit different
here on Nantucket Earth. Many would be hungry real soon....if not dead
from starvation....
"Isn't like we need the insanity of a full blown war along with every
other bit of insanity we had today," the Chief ends.
With the large arsenal of weapons commandeered from one now dead Harry
Smith (re: 15463,who in another storyline had been killed by one of Walker's
cronies before he'd been able to offer an alliance with Walker), those
of Nantucket could easily clean both the Sevateem's and the Tesh's clocks
(AK-47's have a bit more range and the Nantucketers had the home field
advantage in a battle here....if it came down to it). Not like Xoanon's
ship was space worthy after all this time (despite the lighting and such
still working). Too long without maintenance and such.....
"We'll get back to you on that...." both leaders of both tribes say....looking
worried.
"No jihads allowed," Jared said to a disgruntled looking vixen Janeway,
"I won't stand for it. However, if you could somehow get the two sides
to see reason.....smooth out things like I've seen those of Star Fleet
being able to do....."
"I'll see what I can do," the Star Fleet captain sighs, seeing an uphill
battle ahead....but she thought it was "doable".
Stanger things than peace had happened today.....
The Doctor
"And to imagine one time I'd kiddingly joked about divine intervention
being unlikely with that one militia member awhile ago," the Doctor muttered,
administering one last hypospray to the unconscious Doctor.
Meeting the Rules and Agents today earlier was pretty close....
the EMH continued to himself, sighing mentally.
This had been a strange day.
Xoanon had, after recovering somewhat from being "zonked" from the healing
magic of Sigin (augmented with that blue crystal), had been falling all
over himself in appologiesfor the terrible things that had happened.
Inquirer and the others had said, in return, it wasn't like the machine
intelligence had been in his right mind. What with two personalities running
around inside his circuits and all. The EMH decided to ask the....others.....later
about that. Right now it wasn't the time or place for "Twenty Questions."
"Okay...I've talked with those back on the Enclave," Elrondir says,
getting of the combadge with B'Elanna, "Leela wants to tag along, and I
figure that we have room in the TARDIS....."
The other members of this odd little group (except the still unconsious
Time Lord), chuckle a little at that one, including the EMH. The EMH had
been told by.....others....one of the reasons why the Doctor's group had
come to Leela's world....at least in passing.
It would be ironic if after all this adventure that Leela wanted
to stay home and be a good little tribe member, Inquirer said to herself.
"She'd be a welcome addition to this little gang, eh?" Gilmuriel added,
chuckling.
That said, Inquirer observed that the longer they stayed around here
the more chance something could go wrong. The Doctor had mentioned in passing
that those from a future Terra Prime (future Champions) were still about.
The EMH hadn't gone into details, but the Golem (odd name for a new race...considering
the rather....er....colorful reputation golems had in Jewish mythology....but
no more so than say the species called dragons) hadn't needed any
more details. Time paradox wasn't something she and the others wanted to
deal with here!
"We've got to make ourselves and the Doctor scarce," the Golem woman
sighs.
"You know you really shouldn't move him...." the EMH begins to protest....only
to pause in consternation as the prone figure of the Doctor begins to levitate
by magic.
"That.....could work," the EMH concedes, nodding.
"Goodbye," the Doctor of the Voyager says as the others board the antigrav
transporter (called forth by Xoanon) and head back to the Sevateem enclave...and
the TARDIS.
The TARDIS dematerializes (after Betty and Ragan invites Leela to touch
a control on the control column). After the Doctor (the Time Lord one)
recovers in the Zero Room, he sets the TARDIS towards Dr. What's Galifrey....
-
....and that
universe's Romana. She's talking with her co-worker, Lady Rodan....
