Betty
"I do believe that my female associate has asked you two questions,"
the Doctor says in his most arrogant, authorative voice, "Dare I ask you
to answer?"
I mentally sigh (after muttering a little spell that I know of that
should block any psionic attacks by the Tesh....something that I probably
wouldn't be able to do during an attack, since Ragan couldn't) as
it turns out that the leader of the Tesh proves to have had plans just
like his television counterpart. They were going to take Leela to that
one particle analysis room to see if breaking her body down with that laser
would reveal how that Barrier kept opening up. Of course, I and
the others know that the answer to that little question lays on Zoanon.
As for Ragan, well, at least they hadn't actually planned on zapping her....at
least not yet. Rather, they'd have held her in observation to await further
orders from the Doctor (or "the Lord of Time" as they keep calling him).
Also that stuff about the experiment with eugenics and all that (the Tesh
with self control and para-physical achievement and the Sevateem with their
physical courage).....
Well, at least the Doctor doesn't blow his cover by telling the Tesh
the truth in a fit of anger (the fourth Doctor had called the Captain of
the Tesh a lackbrain by about now and all that when the Captain had revealed
his intentions with Leela).
However,.....
"Now, while I did indeed bring her here to ascertain how the.....savages
keep opening the Barrier.....," the Doctor continues, playing the part
of an arrogant lord to the hilt, "I did not bring her here to be
destroyed in such a futile manner that shall not reveal their true means
of accomplishing their feats."
"Lord?" the Captian asks, surprised.
"We brought the savage to interrogate it properly," Inquirer says softly
in a low voice, "We did have her under control....you do remember that
we aborted her move to bring her weapon to bear?"
"Uh....yes?" the Captain concedes, worried.
Oh, Leela hadn't really been under any kind of control.....and had reacted
to the Tesh's presence, understandably.....stopping before actually bringing
her crossbow to bear..... But the Tesh didn't really know this and
so....they actually are beginning to question the wisdom of what they did
(knocking Leela out like they had). Indeed, some Tesh look a bit frightened,
seeing that the Lord of Time looks less than pleased.
"Now, thanks to you, we must again 'recondition' her in preparation
for her interrogation," the Doctor sighs (a bit too melodramatically, in
my opinion). "And not only that, you attacked one of my....servants when
she objected to your.....'aid.'"
The tone that the Doctor uses on the last word leaves no question in
anyone's mind that the 'aid' was something.....less than helpful. That,
and that the Doctor's opinion of the leader of the Tesh's intellect was.....substandard.
Watch it...... Betty thinks, wanting to gesture to the Doctor
to not push too far.
"We must have a special place," Inquirer puts in, "A holy place to perform
the ceremonies to prepare the savage for our needs...."
"Captian, where is the holy of holies?" the Doctor says suddenly, looking
intently at the Captain of the Tesh.
B'Elanna
"I don't believe that you were able to snow them so easily," I say,
smiling.
The Doctor finishes up placing his Tesh escorts sent by the Captain
to take the Doctor and friends up to the Heart out of sight (asleep due
to a small spell).
"It seemed to be the best course of action," the Time Lord says, "Though
I suggest we make all due haste, now. With all due stealth, as well."
I nod, reaching into a pocket and turning my combadge (a memento of
my past) to vibrate instead of chirping, just in case somebody from the
Voyager should happen to try to contact us......
The Doctor had it in his head that he must speak directly to Xoanon
in order to determine just how nutty the poor AI to best determine how
to proceed with the final process of curing him (too rough of extraction
would destroy Xoanon....but too gentle wouldn't cure Xoanon of his multiple
personality). The degree of insanity, according to the Doctor, was the
gauge he needed for this process.
"But right now we must awaken our sleeping fellows," he sighs as Sigin
causes the magically floating sleepers to float to the ground.
"That and I suggest we don't return to Nantucket once it's all said
and done," Elrondir says, looking thoughtful, "While I'd love to learn
just what the hell it's doing here, I fear we might meet those future
Champions....again..... That would be a bad thing."
Some nod at that.
"We could come back when we finally.....er....catch up in time with
those future folk," Betty puts in, wanting to get to the bottom of the
blip that was Nantucket in the scheme of things.
"Sound like a plan," I put in, agreeing.
Soon we've revived our comrades and are sneaking around, out of sight
of any Tesh.
My combadge starts to vibrate during a rather ticklish situation (the
Captain apparently has gotten wise to us and has sent search parties out
for us) and I bite back a curse, wondering who's calling at such a lovely
time.
We dodge the patrol and I angrily answer the thing a bit later, only
to find nothing.
"Lovely," I mutter, wanting to have a few words with whoever that was....but
we have better things to take care of right now.
Xoanon
We look through our sensory links at us and his companions and laugh,
having recovered from the shock of transistion.
We have priorites we must keep track of. Outside later, but......first
something much more important to me.....us.....us inside us......
"Us inside us," we say in our female voice.
"We shall make two....one," I....we continue.....and laugh......
At last.....release is in our grasp.....
-
"Okay, we
need to take care of that guard right outside of that door," Leela whispers,
looking at the guard around the corner.
