| "What the Hell's going on?" he says, totally flummoxed.
It was a reasonable question, actually. After all, Dean had one really
wild (and trying) day!
He'd been able to make contact with the real Brill, but only
after getting away from an imposter who'd tried to trick him into apparently
giving him what he now knows has something to do with the toy that Zavitz
had slipped in with the rest of his holiday purchases. After the contact
with Brill (with him being held at gunpoint, for chrissake's) he'd had
to run for his life, strip down to his underwear to shed all the electronic
tracking devices he discovered he had. Then, after running through traffic
in a tunnel, he'd basically stolen the clothing of a street cleaner (at
gunpoint)....
Oh, there was the bright point of him getting back in good with his
wife, Carla (Dean had been set up to look like he'd been cheating on her
with Rachel).
Also, there had finally been the breakthrough of Dean discovering a
possible reason just why the NSA was chasing him....
But he'd come here to talk with Rachel, and inform her of the recent
happenings (and get her to run for safety).
But instead he found......this. Whatever "this" is.
"Well, the short of it is that these people," Rachel says pointing at
her saviors, "Prevented these sleeping assholes from killing me!"
Dean's eye's go wide, the dime finally dropping.
"Are you okay?" he asks brightly, feeling like kicking himself as soon
as the says it.
After Rachel chuckles a bit at the question (obviously she's
okay...else she'd be dead....perhaps bludgeoned to death and left to be
found by the bathtub or something) she then introduces her guests.
After Rachel explains, Dean looks at her....as if she's insane.
"Uh, most of that made sense....but without proof...and LOTS of proof......about
magic....." Dean finally says.
"How about us?" a high and sweet female voice asks from thin air to
Dean's left.
Dean and Rachel (the thought of real elves somehow hadn't crossed Rachels
mind for some reason) go bug eyed as the four elves appear out of thin
air, smiling .
They had been tailing Dean throughout his wild run (nearby to aid him
if need be), and had finally decided to have little fun by supplying evidence
to give credence to Rachel's true (but bizarre) story.
As Dean's eyes wander up and down the smiling elves before him, watching
things like Elrondir's ear's twitch every once in a while as he decides
to scrutinize the human as much as he's being scrutinized....(along with
his "test drive" of the Cloak of Invisibility) finally convinces the beleaguered
DC labor lawyer......
"Oh my God.....it is real," Dean finally whispers, shaken.

The grinding
noise and the materializing TARDIS (in the middle of Rachel's living room),
is almost small change to the shock of the reality of.....real elves (and
magic).....
