| Her hands shook because, she'd come within inches of getting killed!
The tea did help a little bit on calming jangled nerves, but the item
that really gets Rachel Banks to finally relax totally is Nyssa!
Nyssa, the sweet young aristocrat, comes from a world (Traken) which
is an empire held together by universal harmony and purity (Nyssa and the
others don't tell Rachel this, but the upbringing Nyssa had makes her very
affable). Combine that with the obvious intelligence of Nyssa (she has
to be if she's an expert on bioelectronics and cybernetics), Rachel soon
finds herself liking this young.....if somewhat unexpected......nineteen
year old woman.
Fact of the matter is, she's incredibly grateful for all three of her
unexpected houseguest coming and rescuing her from Pratt and his goons,
but Nyssa strikes an especially positive chord with Rachel....a sense of
rampart. A sense of deepening easy trust.
And the way that Nyssa and the others explain that there was actually
MAGIC
out in the world (something that she'd always hoped as a young child to
be true)......
Well, she was happy and delighted when Nyssa let her try out Iquirer's
loaned Cloak of Invisability.....
With such candor and reassuring (and delightful surprises) s why after
Nyssa finishes, Rachel is nodding. She believes them about the setup with
the NSA!
She then sobers as the weight of the matter strikes her.
"So that explains why all this was happening!" she says. "Jesus, Bobby....and
I are in big trouble, to put it mildly."
And here I actually thought that Brill had somehow been somehow.....
Rachel thinks to herself, now feeling guilty for mistrusting her associate.
Well,
Edward.....my father's friend, did give Brill high marks for surveillance
work......
"Yes, but with some help.....I believe we can bring them to justice,"
Nyssa smiled, patting Rachel's hand. "That and repair the damage they've
done you and Robert Dean."
"Yes, I'd like to bring that Reynolds bastard to justice....." Rachel
says savagely.
Betty then blinks and checks her watch.
"He should be arriving just about....." Betty says, pointing at
the back door.
Dean, having forced the surveillance off with an anonymous "tip"
to the police about it being parked in one place all day...and a suspicion
that "they were doing drugs," has now snuck back (after marking the mailbox
to get Brill's attention for another meet)...and is quietly knocking at
Rachel's back door.
Rachel, glad to see her long time friend (and more at one point in time
in the past), rushes over to the door and opens it quickly.
"Bobby, you gotta meet some of these people who saved my life!"
Rachel says as Dean looks over nervously in askance at Betty, Ragan, and
Nyssa.
He then blinks at the pile of snoring badies on the floor....and ceiling!
-
"What the
Hell's going on?" he says, totally flummoxed.
