"You....demand to know what I'm up to?" Kirk says in a quiet voice. "Young woman, I am a Starfleet Captain, you are hardly in a position to DEMAND anything, really. You can respectfully request to know what I am....'Up to' but you will NOT demand to know what I AM up to."

You frown. You forgot to remember that Star Fleet is something of a military organization among other things.....military organizations usually pay some respect to respect, curtisy, and a few other things. You hate to admit it but to go around and boldly demand something from the commanding officer of a spaceship......That was a little less than wise.

"Sorry, Captain." you say humblely. "I respectfully request to know what you are up to."

Kirk looks at you and....smirks and shrugs.

"Well, I must say your approach is better than some teens I had the misfortune of picking up." Kirk says. "Kept on shouting 'Herbert' at me! Annoying.

"Anyway, what is going on is.....as I see it, the Enterprise is very much alone....and desirable by parties that we probably wouldn't want to have anything to do with. Centauri Prime might not be the best of places for the Enterprise.....and maybe it is. It would, however, be nice to have a friend. Maybe this Mr. Lando.....who would be Emperor....might be such a friend with a little.....persuasion."

You look at Kirk and read between the lines. Persuasion could be called diplomatic leverage in some circles. Centauri Prime was neutral in this conflict....so wouldn't be very popular with some people....but would still have a lot of military and polictical pull in any arguement over the Enterprise. Maybe

"I take it the Enterprise would be the local friendly....representative for the Federation." you say mostly to yourself. "And maybe.....you'll try to talk Centauri Prime into joining.....in a mutaully benefitual agreement....if the Enterprise ever finds it's way back home."

"Exactly." Kirk says, with a winning smile.

2. You sit back and watch what happens next?
