| Shortly afterwards, Will, Sigin Vulpine and a number of soldiers
burst into Malin's room. But are they in time?
"NO!!!!" Malin screams as he looks up from the magic mirror he's been
trying to contact the orcen shaman for the last few minutes.
Malin had been swearing silently, wondering where the orcen trash was....
considering every time before he made a call it had been answered in a
matter of seconds......
Malin screams in anger as he starts to make a magical gesture......only
to be thrown back by three well placed shots to his arms and legs. The
mage screams yet again, but this time in agony as he finds the bullets
had taken out his collar bones.....and his left kneecap!
Sigin makes a magical gesture, and the screaming Malin falls into a
deep slumber. The demifox mage then turns and looks up at King Willian
in askance, who places his revolver back into it's holster hidden underneath
his vest.
"I was the best shot back that the Academy for years with the crossbow,"
the king explains, "I found it easy enough to learn how to shoot as well
as any of Diane's rangers months ago. As for why I left him alive.....I
want that one chap by the name of Alex to interrogate him. I'm told
his especially good at that.....and that the methods he'll use will be
useful in learning a few other things......
"But that's for later," the king says in a tone that belays the "foppish"
persona he'd put on so long ago, "Bind his wound and then take him to the
Golems."
Sigin goes over to the magical mirror to examine it (carefully) to see
if he can see if any information had been passed in the meantime and perhaps
get a clue as just who exactly in the orcs Malin was in contact with. He
is about to turn off the spell that allows him to speak with the ghostly
Enemy when he's interrupted. He pauses when "Jim" the ghost comes floating
in with a rather worried look on his reptilian face.
"Sigin, my friend....." the Lizard says softly, "That nice Alliance
Golem, Probe, has important news. Something about one of his children having
found out about the capture of some......analogs of Fred, Astra, and a
few others. He wasn't too clear and wants to meet with you and the others
right away!"
It involves a unicorn, a village lass (who's been transformed into a
unicorn lass...but doesn't know it yet); two Freds (one inexplicably back
from the dead caused by a dragon bite); three Astras (one who's a time
orphan and another that's only nine); another Anina (still human); and
a buxom, dark-skinned woman, dressed in a series of flowing veils, who
just can't stop dancing.....

scenes to a forest deep within orcen territory.....
