"So, which way does that wand say our man (or woman) is?" Astra asks the bearwoman, Alicia 4. Alicia gives off a bearing from her wand, and the adventurers start treking through the snow . . . soon only to begin to discover that not only has the snow stopped falling, but for some reason it is as if Spring has arrived. Now, if things had not been disrupted even before the Champions (or even Winifred) had arrived on sight, then sooner or later one or the other should have had a close encounter with a rather angry witch with VERY pale skin. If things had not been disrupted.... Then this never ending winter wouldn't have ended, really. See, the winter wonderland was connected to that witch and would only end (by prophecy) with her death, basically. Death at the hands of, basically, descendants "of Adam" that were to come from an Earth (England in particular) still in the throws of WWII (i.e. a human being). But something has gone wrong. Namely, it is due to a temporary incursion of Game 3 into this realm. Game three (in the form of a Scott Chen), had touched down and Scott had the close encounter with that witch. Had said something that had wetted her appetite for conquest (something about there being no real knowledge of magic from the place he'd come from, sort of). This particular Scott was in a "story thread" which was taking place on a mundane Earth in the late 1990's, but that's not important. Scott (for a change) was able to get the upper hand when the witch forced him to come through the wardrobe door back into his world, into an enviroment where magic (while it actually exists) was of a form not accessible by the witch (i.e. she found herself without access to her magic spells). Scott was able (with shotgun/stun rounds) to subdue her and have her hauled away as some kind of lunatic who'd broken into his apartment. So the witch is in the "luney bin" and Scott.... Well, this little "forray" into this mundane Earth ended and he got sucked back into the chaotic realm of Game 3 (i.e. no danger of THIS world getting sucked in there along with him). However, the witch is still there and her absence from her home realm has (for the time being) broken the Winter. But it also is playing havoc with that wardrobe entrance because it's still stuck back at that abandoned aparment of Scott. Until things are put to right, somehow, it'll stay stuck. Meanwhile, this disruption has hit the unexpecting (and surprised) lion like a sledgehammer between the eyes, knocing him for a loop (and he'll be out for days....if he EVER recovers). Meaning that now both the forces of the good and the bad are a shambalic mess, with both of their leaders indesposed in one fashion or another. Winnifred, being of high blood and leadership, what with being a "Lord" (or perhaps "Lady" now). She sees a need to bring some order to this mess, and the discommoded "good guys" for reasons they'll wonder about later (it's her aura of leadership, if you must ask) they begin following her orders (a newcomer at that, albeit a "human" newcomer to the ranks). So soon search parties are sent out, looking for some kind of cause for this disruption. Much later (some crony finally manages to clamber to the top) of the evil forces begins to send out search parties for their missing witch. Everyone's edgy and nervous and somewhere between the two forces are Jarlath's group. The forces of Good will be almost paranoid, now (things like this just don't HAPPEN like this on their world), and will be out to protect ther "defacto" leader (if only to keep their world view from being even MORE shaken by another threat). See, the forces of good MUST have a Leader and that's Winnifred (by inhuman instinct) . . .
