Loam, pro-tem Pack leader, looks nervously at the platform that his
friends just disappeared from nervously. Several of the others who had
come to see Fred and the others off (a large group) mutter nervously as
the platform begins to glow a sickly green color.
"Oh my G....," whispers Carradene, recognizing the symptons. "DUCK!"
The Pack automatically hit the deck and scream as the platform proceeds
to fail spectacularly! Chunks of matter and rock come shooting out of the
portal, and then there is a resounding CRACK as the platform slits....and
splits again and AGAIN into dust.
Loam coughs and picks himself and the cub that he had sheilded with
his body and stares at the pile of dust that used to be a Slipgate. He
then whirls and starts giving off orders in rapid sequence.
"Patch!" Loam shouts. "Go see that the defenses are manned. I don't
know what happened, but it could be a sign of somebody bad coming!
"Mordan, see to the injured. Carradene, I want to to see what that was
and where Fred, Alicia, and the others are. See if they are alive!"
Carradene nods and begins to pull out spell components from his pouches.
He frowns, because while it may very well be possible that the travellers
are still alive....it was a good bet that they weren't where they had planned
on being! Whatever destroyed that nexus must have been.... incredibly powerful.
How powerful remained to be seen. Could this have something to do with
that thermowhatis that golem had mentioned before cutting it's own strings?
Carradene had thought that the monster had been full of it when nothing
outward had happened (though for the past few sunsets and sunrises had
been INCREDIBLELY beautiful....more so than the old wolf had ever witnessed
before). However, before going out to find out the source of the problem.
"Carradene calling Frederigo D'Honaire," the grey furred werewolf mage
says, holding the green crystal. "Carradene calling Alicia....calling anyone
in the party! Come in....."
