"So," Will says as he shifts his backpack. "We're just going to just
pop into our home by Slipgate?"
"Hopefully," says Synizn. "That system was getting on in years, even
though it was Alantean built. Things break down, eventually. Things change."
The others look at him funny. The were-bear had been so eager to volunteer
for this expedition. However, even though his company was welcome with
them, the group seemed to wonder why he seemed to be....so down sometimes.
Fred just put it down as the long odds they admittedly faced....finding
Minestus' lair.
"Well, here we all are," Astra says as the group arrives at the small
marble platform that served as the Slipgate's interface to the magical
nexus. As the group steps up to the platform, Will taps out the pattern
on the multicolored stones in the platforms center and......The group feels
a jarring sideways motion. The group pops back into existence, and the
humans proceed to....recycle their last meal. The manimals also feel a
bit queasy, but are better able to hold onto their stomachs.
"That....wasn't the way it's supposed to be," whispers Synizn, still
looking a bit green around the gills. "It felt like the spacial lock of
that transport system was....wonky."
"That's not the only thing that's wonky!" shouts Alicia, pointing.
The others look, and stare. Nowhere in the Kingdom was there.....a desert.
In the distance is a lone walled city with it's gates hanging wide open,
by a lonely bay......
