Then Belinda sighted her quarry, some fifty yards away.
Meanwhile, back at the "landing zone" as it were....
Andrea 2
When I left for adventure back at my ex-father's estates....I
definitely got it and much more than I bargained for, I think to myself
as my tail (a thing that is as normal and natural as if I'd been born with
it) swishes slowly as I look down at the newest member of this group of
adventurers, That said, I've got to say that something about this whole
business makes me a bit leery.....
More than a little leery, actually.
First, there is this business with the Unseelie curse itself. See, I
and the other mages have studied under dragons who've seen much in their
long lives and while we've heard of this kind of curse. While it's possible
that the curse could have been designed to act the way it's acting (reaching
out to mutate not only it's original targets from within the Red Pyramid
but one Fred who's now a male pixie and an evil Astra analog who's
in the process of turning into one of the more nasty Unseelie monsters)...it
smells more of magic gone wild. Indeed, wild magic is dangerous....unpredictable
stuff (there are half whispered tales of a very foolish Fred analog who'd
been changed into a male centaur due to reading a spell aloud without
control elements.... but I can't get confirmation on that rumor) and this
Unseelie curse business has an...."odor" to it (for want of a better word
to you non-magic users out there). Ordinary curses....even those of olden
origin, don't act quiet like the way this one is acting. It's almost like
it's gained something of a life of it's own and changed into something
more that what you see in other magical curses (some of the curses who've
been called "venereal diseases" due to the way they pass on through transference
of blood or...cough....other bodily fluids).
Second, there is the disconcerting fact that we now have run into TWO
people so far who are analogs of those within the Red Pyramid (who in turn,
with the exception of Belinda, are analogs of the Freds and Astras of Terra
Prime). Now, t.here is a saying that both scientists and mages have about
something like this: "One is coincidence, two is bad luck, three is a statistical
trend!" I....have the eeriest feeling right now. Something that makes my
fox ears stand up erect whenever I contemplate what it could mean. We do
know that the Book had been hard pressed at the end there and we know that.....
I blink when a sudden thought occurs to me. Something that could well
explain what could be happening here..... That is if.....
My train of thought is derailed when Fred the pixie gives off a yelp
of anger. He'd been concentrating deeply with his fey senses to tell which
direction and how far away Belinda was (by holding onto one of the discarded
articles of clothing that had already been determined magically by Jarlath
to belong to her, Fred be able to readily home in on her).
"Unseelie hunt!" he shouts, a truly angry and fey sound in his
high pitch voice.
Next thing we know he takes off like an arrow into the woods, ignoring
our shouts for him to stop!
Dragon Synizn
"Tiamat's blood!!" I swear to myself, "We don't have time for
this!"
I then turn to look at the others frantically.
-
"Hurry, we
don't have much time!" I shout to the others.
