"Don't worry," Drederick whispers to Annafrid as she and his wife
begin to leave for a long session. "Just....be yourself."
Dred had a good feeling about Annafrid, and liked her......
Annafrid and Champlaine walked into another room, and Champlaine closed
the door behind her.
"Now, my dear," Champlaine says gently as she and Annafrid take a seat
at a nearby table, "Tell me more about yourself. Jarlath and Astra made
a go at it, but I'd like to hear about yourself in your own words, to get
a better understanding of you."
A lot could be told about one's character by the choice of words and
the manner of delivery when discussing oneself.
"Uh....well, where should I begin?" Annafrid asks, not sure at all how
to proceed.
"I would suggest to start from the beginning," Champlaine says, smiling
softly, "proceed to the end....then stop."
"Right," Annafrid mutters.
"Well, as for a beginning that's something of a nebulous proposition
," the young woman began, "Now, while I said I didn't remember my past,
and that's basically true, it falls short of the fact I remember two
pasts, but none are actually mine. One is of a young woman called
Hannah who'd been warned never to go into the Southern Caverns for all
the monsters within, which turns out to be untrue since upon returning
to the spot where her village was supposed to be....it wasn't there. Another
is, believe it or nor, of one Lord Fred charged by his majesty to go forth
and slay the most fowl dragon of the Souther Caverns, and then I come across
the body of the real knight sent out to find and slay that dragon.
One Sir Griffin. Anyway, the first memory I have of myself as myself,
Annafrid, is when I'd seemed to come out of thin air in the Elven Nation
near Jarlath and Astra....without a trace of clothing on...."
Okay, to make a long story short, here's a recap about Annafrid, including
facts not known to her or her friends.
Annafrid - Think of Hannah, but instead of Belboz being able
to complete the apparent erasure of Fred from her mind, she killed him
before it could be completed. Instead, she was left with two sets of memories.
One of a peasant girl named Hannah. The other of a male knight called Lord
Fred. IN reality, she is neither. She was created in whole by magical means.
A woman created out of a macabre method left unsaid. Belboz couldn't help
himself, though. He'd been leading a tortured life due to a geas pleased
upon him by Prang and had to do terrible things! So, doing the best he
could do under the circumstances, he used dark methods forced upon him
for a means of escape and revenge! Nobody, including Prang, knows this.
Belboz knew, but he's dead, now.
Soon, these two personalities fuse into a third personality. One
with Fred's bravery and confidence but with Hannah's femininity and spunk.
The new person was Annafrid. She was given by Belboz in parting the gift
of magic, but fell prey to a evil mage and was trapped within a NEW body
without a drop of magical ability at all.
The new body, a very buxom and young blonde woman who'd been called
Helena (a scullery maid), was then magically controlled by Prang, that
evil mage (and master of the Dragon of the Souther Caverns) and forced
Annafrid to forget all of what happened in the last 24 hours permanently.
That done, Prang then Banished her to another world entirely.
But as luck would have it, she found a way back.
Currently, she is on a quest to save the lives of some elfin children
and travels with her companions from Terra Prime (Jarlath, Ti'mma, Joan,
and friends). Has fallen in love with Jarlath and Astra due to Ti'mma psionically
revealing what each was actually feeling for Jarlath at a critical moment
in time.
Finally, she is very strong and swift due to certain magical side
effects by the spell that Prang used to banish her and such.....
She then goes on to tell of how she became a Champion, and finally having
to join in battle with Prang....and on and one into the night at Champlaine's
bequests.
"Now that you know all this, I pray you do not thing me too odd
for marriage to Jarlath," Annafrid says softly, awaiting an answer.
-
Champlaine
leans back in her chair, and smiles....
