....is at first not initially known. Not initially obvious to exactly
what it really is. It's just a scene that takes place days later from the
battle in the Frozen Mountains. Though....it's hard to take all the same.
It is where the well meaning healer known as Leetah, the lifemate of
the leader of the Wolfriders, had been able to return life to One Eye's
dead body....but not reunite body and soul.
As the heart wrenching scene of Clearbrook sobbing and asking aloud
why the spirit of her departed love would not return to his body....and
to her played out, the elves and humans quietly backed off out of sight
before they were spotted.
They all look pale and shaken, One Eye and his son especially!
"God, back when it happened the first time she begged me to return it
was hard enough," Solik'tril whispered hoarsely, "But....the thought of
going back after all the agony and it.....was so peaceful and calm being
a spirit....and with the other spirits as company within the Palace."
"But....I've just got to ask you father," the Scouter part of the silver
haired boy asks, suddenly giving into the growing question within him,
"I don't understand why you came back? I understand that it finally came
down to following the Way....."
(Author's note: the Way is a philosophy of the Wolfriders to live a
simple life and take no more than what they need from the forest....nature
in general. Not to disrupt nature overly much as....say humans had a habit
of doing. Returning from the dead like he had...(re: 13602) did kind of
go against the Way).
It confused (and frankly, illogically, angered) Scouter, actually. Oh,
he was delighted and happy beyond words to have his father back, but.....
Instead of trying to describe it with words, the son of Eric Jones shares
it by Sending (in this realm.....sending to humans was easy....and less
unpredictable than doing it in "the real world.")
And so.....Solik'tril Jones shows what he had seen from the realm of
the spirits as Clearbrook entered into the chamber where his still living
body was kept.....
She'd opened the magical cocoon that held One-Eye's body in
stasis, and waited for the body to finally get the message and draw it's
last breath, when she felt a great....sweeping sense of fear and bewilderment
from the spirits around her....and her departed mate's spirit sweeping
through her (sharing a frantic but heartfelt sense of love for her), and
right into.....the body he'd abandoned so long ago.....
"It's coming," One-Eye whispered weakly, shaken what he'd sensed
as a spirit.
As the storm of confusion, love, and concern for her newly
returned (and frightened) lovemate raged within Clearbrook's heart, outside
Rayek keeled over, dead as the first shockwaves of his older self hit him.
Seconds later the world dissolved in fire....and light.
The images fades.
"I was overwhelmed by the Destruction we spirits saw coming," Solik'tril
says softly, "I and the others knew that nothing could be done to stop
it....that it was powerful and would at least destroy a large....er....chunk
of real estate. As even a spirit we couldn't get well enough far away from
the area of effect so.....I did one also act in saying goodbye. I didn't
even get to say that much before......"
"And he didn't expect to end up here....never would have dreamed such
as this," Ti'mma put in, seeing the reason..
The silver haired elfin boy nodded, and then smiled as his halves....were
suddenly whole.
The trauma was resolved. Such was possible, the sudden resolution, for
that was how elves were like....at least on Terra Prime.....well, most
of the time....anyway.
Hathar'ruil smiles as the scene fades....and they find themselves again
back in the clinic. And then pause in consternation as the Emperor, Probe,
and Hathar'ruil's frantic parents are looking down at them all!
"Uh....hi?" Eric Jones says, a bit taken aback by all the high ranking
people in the room.
-
Understandably,
there is a lot of explaining needed to be done, but Ti'mma is most insistent
that they do it on their way BACK to help the elfin children (and Rayek)
that she and the others had gone on a quest to aid in the first place!
