| "Annafrid!" the fairy woman Chelene exclaims delightedly. The body
that Annafrid now wears mightbe different, but Chelene's magical talents
ensure that she has no difficulty in recognisingher. Many introductions
and explanations follow, and in the process Chelene is able to fillin some
of the events that Annafrid herself no longer remembers.
Once all the explanations are finally finished, Joan asks Chelene: "Can
you tell us where we can finda supply of the herb that we are looking for?"
"I've heard that a wizard called Prang specialisesin spells that utilise
that herb," the fairy replies. "Though he now lives in a castlefor retired
wizards, he's still very much an active practitioner of magic." Chelene
hasno idea that Prang is the master of the dragon of the Southern Caves,
of course, nor thathe is the most powerful and dangerous wizard in existence
on this analogue of Terra Prime; thewizard is much too careful and subtle
for anyone to be aware of that.
"I'm tempted to come with you," Chelene continues, "though I'm not sure
that youreally need my aid. Once you are safely out of the Southern Caves,
your quest shouldbe free of danger. And your party possesses an impressive
array of talents, notleast the enhanced strength and agility of Annafrid
herself. [12713]

"Meanwhile, there's
a gift that I would like to give Annafrid, so long as the Gods and Goddesses
are willing."
