Carradene goes off to a secluded spot, near the beach, but far enough
away that nobody will come up and see what he's doing. He pulls off a necklace
with a plain looking stone on it. It is an innocent looking necklace, but
. . . .
"Malachi, this is Carradene, come in." the old wolf says. This should
prove interesting.
"Carradene . . . . I was wondering if I would ever hear from you again."
comes the reply. Carradene frowns. He can see the cave background of Malachi's
lair, but no Malachi. She almost always showed herself in the magical picture
(she was ever so vain). Also she sounded, different.
"Malachi, you old wyrm, what's wrong?" Carradene asks.
"I've been hurt." the dragoness says with obvious pain as it limps into
the picture. "I got ambushed by these strange golems, and barely was able
to . . . . get away. We're being hunted . . . HUNTED!"
"My GOD!" Carradene says, seeing the extent of the damage done to the
lizard. "I can not believe this is happening!"
"The same one's that took out Moreau, are going around hunting and killing
all dragonkind!" the dragoness says, affronted by the very idea. "They
keep going on and on about how, since Minestus is out to destroy humanity,
that they were going to return the favor. Carradene, before I got ambushed,
I got news that some type of sickness is spreading among the human kingdoms.
I don't know what that damn fool Minestus did, but he sure pissed off somebody
out there."
"You have no idea who would employ thes abominations?" Caradene asks,
shocked at what was going on.
"Look, all I know is that they aren't NOT like any golems like I've
ever seen. They may even be . . . . from one of those other worlds we've
talked about in the past." the dragoness says, wincing in pain.
"You mean like where that Triangle interfaces with other world from
time to time? The one that's near here?" Carradene asks, fascinated despite
the grim situation.
"Could be. I don't know." the dragoness says. "All I know is that I'm
getting the hades out of here.
"Look, I know that I said that I'd help, and I always keep my word.
Only . . . . I can't do it in the original way that I promised.
"You remeber those floating coffins that that nut tried to get to the
mainland in a while ago?" she asks. Carradene nods numbly. "Well, the crystal
ball says that weather out their will be clear and safe enough to get to
shore, if you move your behind fast. With no Moreau around to throw the
weather into turmoil and sink ships, you might just make it. Out!" The
magical link is broken, and the magical picture blinks out.
"Fred, I hope that you know what you are doing." Carradene mutters,
looking off to the middle distance. "Those golems threw everything into
the rubish bin. I just hope that you know what you are doing, for all our
sake."
