The foxes are able to make themselves presentable before Loam comes
into view.
"Over here, Loam!" shouts Fred. He grins, wanting to see how the big werewolf is doing. Loam comes trotting over to Alicia and Fred. He pauses ever so breifly at the sight of Fred. He doesn't know what to make of him. On one hand, this is a member of the "Higher Ups" that has had him and his family under their thumb for the longest time. Yet, here is this knight, treating him like an equal . . . . like a person that is actually happy to see him. Furthermore, the guy HAD . . . along with Alicia . . . . saved his life from that monster! He still didn't know how that thing had snuck up on him like that! Maybe he had been distracted by the facts he had found out about Moreau, and a few other stray pieces of information! In that same vein of thought, he looks at Alicia. She was even a bigger "Higher Up" than Sir Fred, yet from day one, she and he had become fast friends. Looking at it from that angle, maybe . . . . Loam should lay off on his hate of Fred, and actually get to know him. What he'd seen of Fred so far . . . mostly was positive (unlike the rest of Fred's kinfolk). "Hey, I heard about what happened last night." Loam begins, suddenly uncomfortable. "I think I owe you one." "Hey, what kind of friend would I be if I didn't help?" Alicia says sounding a little surprised about this "owing" business. She'd gotten used to the ways of the people of this land were helping each other was just part of keeping alive! "Hey, I can't let a person get killed right in front of me!" sputters Fred. "It wouldn't be right! And, how can I call you a friend, eventually, if you up and die?" "I hope I'm not pushing things by asking you . . . . what you were doing out in No Mans Land?" Alicia suddenly asks, getting to something that she had been thinking about before the full moon made complex thinking impossible. "Eh, well....." Loam mutters, suddenly nervous. He strains his senses to make sure that the three are actually alone, and then comes closer. "Look, I was initially sent out by Carradene to find out about some things about Moraeu." Loam whispers nervously. "But, I don't want him to know what I found. I was trying to figure out what I should really do when that Foresaken bastard beamed me with that club. "Look, the Dragon Lord's magical barrier is down, because I found a bunch of dead pirates on the shore." Loam continues. "I don't know what killed them, but it looks like it was sudden like." "I think we need to pay a visit to this Minestus . . . . Moreau or whatever." Fred says suddenly. "If this dragon is actually a mage conducting experiments, maybe he won't kill a bunch of lab subjects who want to see him." "That actually isn't as crazy as it sounds, Loam." Alicia says, cutting
off the silver werewolf's protests. "Something is up, and I don't want
to get Carradene involved, because if I'm right . . . . Caradene might
get back a fully stocked mage's lab. I don't think that the old SOB should
have that power at his disposal."
"Yeah, he does . . . . tend to grab for power,, and hold on to it like
the wolf he is." Loam says nervously. "He may not be the werewolf he used
to be, but he's still got powerful friends in the pack . . . . and I'd
rather not run afoul of him."
"So . . . we should go and see what's up." Fred reasons out. "See if
the dragon is dead. If he is, then hopefully we can prevent Caradene from
getting the lab."
