Try to remain calm, I tell myself. After all, you knew that this
was going to happen.
But I hadn't expected it to happen so fast. I had assumed that it would be some months after the implantation before my pregnancy would become noticeable. But if this was a normal pregnancy the roundness of my belly would suggest that I was already at somewhere around the six months stage. Could I have been kept sedated for some months? That might explain why my mouth feels so dry, the need for the IV, and why the scar on my abdomen isn't more noticeable. Of course I have no idea of how large the alien embryo was when implanted, how quickly it will grow or how much longer I have before reaching full term. Then I remember that it might well be more than a single embryo inside me; I had heard one of the doctors ask if the embryos, plural, were stable. This looks like a hospital room, so there should be medical staff somewhere about. I look around, but don't see anything that looks like it could be a buzzer for summoning someone. So I shout "Nurse!" as loudly as my dry throat will permit.
