One bridge too far

The Black Void - Episode 87

Following the sign pointing the way to a bridge game, I am surprised to find an exit from the library. On the other side is an oddly familiar looking forest with a path leading down to a river. Following the path, I find an old bridge leading across the river, and as I start crossing I notice several old plush toys standing around on the bridge. There's a teddy bear, a sad looking donkey, and several more, even two kangaroos. As I try to get past them, I notice that they are moving around and talking. They aren't toys, they are alive!

"Hello," says the bear politely. "Have you come to play?"

"I'm looking for the bridge game," I stutter. Surely that must be somewhere on the other side?

The bear looks down. "We're on a bridge," he points out. "And we're playing a game I made up. Poohsticks. I'm Pooh, how do you do?"

I gasp. Winnie the Pooh? No wonder this place looked so familiar! Then that must be Eeyore, and there's Kanga and Roo. Oh yes, and even Piglet, hiding behind his friend from the big strange human.

"No, I mean a game with cards," I try to explain. Piglet smiles and shakes his head at the silly human. "Can't play Poohsticks with cards," he explains patiently. "We tried once but they just got soggy."

"Let's play!" Pooh calls. "Everyone got a stick yet?" He looks at me as if expecting me to join the game.

  1. I run into the forest to find a good stick so I can play.
  2. I rummage through my pockets for something to use as a stick.
  3. Recalling what happened in the book, I throw Eeyore into the river.
  4. Before I can decide, I get jumped by Tigger.
  5. Leaving the silly animals, I walk into the forest in search of a proper game of Bridge.
