I finish my lunch while continuing to talk to Ulrike. "I can understand if Caroline finds it hard to find things to do," I say. "I visited the dorm that I've been allocated to just before coming here and saw that, apart from basic toiletries, all that I had by way of possessions was two rather unappealing books."
"There is a small library, but the selection of books is not great - and even smaller if you cannot read English, like quite a few of the women here. There are certainly no copies of People magazine - or any other magazines for that matter. There is a gym. There is also a games room, with a couple of packs of playing cards, a Monopoly set, a few jigsaws and a table tennis table. There's even a PC with a small collection of rather ancient computer games. As you can imagine, that is in great demand, so we had to institute a booking system with one hour slots. It has no Internet connection, naturally." "That's better than I feared. How about TV, cinema and music?"
