An Atrocity is Committed

The Black Void - Episode 78

Neither fight nor flight seems a sensible option when faced with a machine gun. I get back in line as quickly as I can, as do most of the others.

What happens to the few brave - or maybe foolish - women who ignore the warning leaves me in no doubt that I made the right decision. They are all mown down in a matter of seconds. I try not to throw up at the sight of their bloody corpses strewn about the floor. They include that of the woman in the blue and yellow striped dress who I had been speaking to only a minute or so earlier.

Evidently satisfied that the brief rebellion has been quashed, the man with the machine gun turns and stalks back up the corridor. Not surprisingly, many of the women are hysterical, screaming and sobbing. The woman immediately in front of me in the line seems calmer than most, so I whisper to her: "What the hell is going on here? What is this place? I don't even know how I got here."

  1. She answers my questions.
  2. She whispers back: "I have no more idea than you do."
  3. The man returns and bellows: "No talking!" The woman in front of me naturally obeys, having seen what he is capable of, so I don't get an answer.
  4. I wake up screaming.
