"Sorry boss," I say, trying to sound tough, "but this is just a little too weird for me. Two grand for switching a rabbit in case somebody kisses it? I don't think so."

I turn to leave.

"And by the way, ever heard of the Atkins diet?" I snarl out of the side of my mouth.

That was probably a mistake.

The two nameless, neckless henchmen step in front of me, menacingly blocking the exit. From behind me, the Codfather grunts: "I look like this because of the Atkins diet, you moron!"

It's about at this point that I decide to:

  1. Kick the thugs in the groin and run for my life.
  2. Beg for mercy.
  3. Act like I was just kidding and take the job.
