No one knows a way out of this place and, despite numerous searches over
the years, you can't find any way that you can be turned back. You become
used to your new life and, although you miss your old life, memories of it
fade after many years. Your body never changes, never ages. You like to
come up to the surface sometimes to sit your fin on the shore or on a rocky
outcropping. You like to come up to brush you hair or even just to sing
(apparently singing is something you acquired from being a mermaid).
You like to see the surface, but any humans that see you are at first fascinated by your beauty, then horrified if you try to talk to them. Mostly, you and the other mermaids keep to yourselves at the bottom of the water.
