Danielle

Danielle and her husband Pierre are in their sixties. They are both black, of middling height, with curly hair that was now just about all white. Jacques likes both of them. They were "good people", with gentle senses of humor and a friendly way about them, and not the least bit of pretense. She was a schoolteacher, and Pierre was an aircraft mechanic. Both were retired, and kept up what existed of the island's infrastructure. This was mostly solar powered, with a small water desalinization station. There were also backyard gardens, but most food and other goods had to be imported from other islands.

Now Danielle was wearing a dress with large floral prints, and was bending the edge of the dock, as if she were searching for something. "Danielle?" called out Jacques.

1. Danielle raises her head, and acknowledges Jacques.
2. Danielle does not acknowledge him.
