Suddenly they heard a noise up above them. Sara looked up to see a silver-
haired old man in bright-green robes kneeling by the side of the pit. His
keen, sprightly expression was twisted in sorrow and anguish. "No, it cannot be," he sobbed. "My pit of Baragajoolian Sticky Ectoplasm - defiled... violated - ruined by these foreign organisms! Years of painstaking work and research - destroyed in a heartbeat! Oh cruel fate! Why must thou torment me thusly!" "So, the truth comes out!" Amergin said grimly. "T'was not even your pit of slime to begin with, you thieving scoundrel!" Kipper gazed up in disbelief. "How was I to know it belonged to this mageling? I find a pit of green slime, I claim it as my own. Its how this world works." "Sir! Sir!" Sara yelled. "If this is indeed your pit of slime, please help us! We've been trapped here for days and we're wasting away!" "Its hopeless," the old man sighed, completely ignoring her. "This sample is utterly ruined and has to be dumped." He stood up and waved his hands in the air. "Prascelsus omonjuuwa kotonkahiirii alshambreda! Parogon niilf salcuekunda! Raastalaapi!" To Sara's horror the slime suddenly plunged downwards, taking all four of them along with it into total darkness...
When Sara awoke she lay still naked on the bank of an underground river. The only light in the wide open cave came from humming blue crystals on the floor and ceiling. She saw a shape laying on the ground nearby it was...
