The clothes are all still sackcloth, just as Anorkin said they'd be, I
remember with chagrin. If I'm going to get rid of the uncomfortable
clothes, I'll have to learn enough magic to change them myself. I remove a
gown and slam the wardrobe door, taken aback that it makes no sound when I
do so.
I go downstairs, where Anorkin has a simple breakfast laid out. We eat in silence (in my case, total silence) Once we've finished, Anorkin's voice in my head speaks: "Now, we shall begin. Don't worry about not being able to hear. This will in fact be beneficial. You won't be casting any spells today." He leads me into his study, and instructs me to sit cross-legged in a magic circle, of ornate design, which looks to be burned into the wooden floor. "You must learn to harness your magical energy, your aura, if you will. Right now, it is trapped beneath layers of doubt and confusion, powerful mental blocks which will forever impede your progress if they are not utterly destroyed. You may not be Naomi, but like her, your inner wellspring of magic is overflowing. With the aid of the magic circle I've created, we shall unlock it." I sit in the circle, the sackcloth gown gathering uncomfortably around my thighs. "Now, you must focus on your magical power - drive away all distractions, empty your mind, embrace your true potential." I close my eyes and try to follow his instructions.
