I have decided that Baras and I should wait for Don and Sara's return,
assuming that the Marquess is willing for us to stay. After so long apart,
there would seem little point in another lengthy journey just to save a
few days.
Since we arrived, Baras and I have bathed, separately, and had a meal, together. Now I am resting in my room (Baras has the one next door), and waiting for a maid to arrive with the promised change of clothing, when there is a knock at the door. When I open it, I see the same guard who saw to us when we arrived. "The Marquess would like to meet you," he tells me. I never did meet the Marquess on my previous brief visit, so this will be a first. "Does he went to see Baras too?" I ask. "No, just you." The guard shows me to a comfortable and elegant drawing room. The Marquess, a distinguished-lookibg man of sixty or so, is sitting in an armchair. He indicates that I should take a nearby chair. I sit down and the guard leaves us.
