Now that we have been travelling by day rather than at night, I haven't
suffered too much from the cold. Luckily my flimsy outfit hasn't followed
my sandals in disintegrating, as I had feared it might. It was never
intended for doing anything as strenuous as riding a horse. I've grown
used enough to riding by now for much of my stiffness and soreness to have
worn off. All these things make me feel more cheerful. And naturally my
spirits have risen as we approach our destination. Surely Don, Sara and
myself will be able to work something out that will satisfy all of us?
The last few miles seem to pass very slowly, but eventually we arrive at the outer gate. [3410] We dismount, and I tug on the bell-pull. We hear the bell tinkle.
