I know it's useless to continue the act at this point. I hope that Baras gets wind of the news before Salley's men find him, and has a chance to rescue me or at least escape and make his way to my freinds.

"What are you going to do with me, then?" I ask. My own prospects for escape appear limited. Salley, alert and eyeing me cautiosly, could easily overpower me. At the moment, naked save for the bedsheet, I'm quite literally at his mercy.

1. "Marlowe, Gustav's man at the Ministry of Law, has apparently taken over Gustav's role, and is trying to hold his organization together. I will return you to him for whatever judgement he sees fit."
2. "With Gustav's death, his organization has already begun to implode. I see no sense returning you there. No, I've decided to keep you for myself. Your friend, however, will be disposed of."
3. Just then, the door bursts open to reveal Baras, sword drawn, having apparently defeated Salley's men. The unarmed Salley is caught off guard and begs mercy. We manage to escape, helping ourselves to Salley's horse-drawn coach in the process.
