The Black Void - Episode 3486

To leave Gustav's mansion would remove any chance of killing him, of course. "I don't want to go. I - um - like it here," I say, realising even as I say it how weak it sounds.

"What you want doesn't come into it. And if you like it here, that's all the more reason for getting rid of you. I must have been treating you too well. You will be leaving - under guard, of course - the day after tomorrow. Don't think that once you've arrived at the home of your new master you will be free to escape. If you do, I will quickly hear of it, and your friends will suffer."

If I'm to kill Gustav I will need to move fast, even though I am nowhere near ready, for all that I've been here the best part of six months now. It doesn't really make any difference who Gustav intends as my new owner, as I intend to have killed him and escaped before then, but it will look suspicious if I don't ask, so: "Who are you giving me to?"

"Theodore."

I remember him from a week or two ago. According to Baras, he controls a drug smuggling ring at the other end of the country. The man may have been pleased with me, but I didn't like him.

  1. As I digest this, Gustav says: "That is all. You may go."
  2. Gustav adds: "As a special treat before you go, you can share my own bed tonight."
  3. Gustav adds: "By the way, Madam Scarlet discovered a month ago that some of her girls were supplying you with her anti-pregnancy elixir. Since then, the supplies that you've been receiving have not contained the active ingredient."
  4. Gustav adds: "By the way, I've known all along about the elixir you've been getting. I had no objection, but I asked Madam Scarlet to ensure that it contained an additional ingredient." That explains something that had puzzled me.
