"I'll decide for myself who I want to be friends with, dear
husband." Sara says pointedly.
"But, Sara..." "I'll hear no more argument about it." Sara says. Her straightforward manner makes me smile. She's proudly assertive for someone so young, especially in a culture where such behaviors aren't necessarily seen as a positive for girls. Don seems unable to deny her. "Now, Don, if you'd kindly give us some privacy. I'd like to talk to Hari a bit longer." She turns back to me. "I'm really interested in hearing your story." An idea comes to my mind. I'm not sure how close she and John are, but it's worth asking. At least she may be more sympathetic than his father. "I'll tell you about it later, Sara. But there's something more important first. The reason I came here, well...it's about your brother." "John? You know my brother?" "Yes, and I'm afraid he's in grave danger. We came here to try to get help for him. Unfortunately, your father has refused to see us."
