I'm tempted to throw the coins back at him after how he's just acted, but common sense overrules my pride. After all, I may need the money. I hope Gustav dosen't come down too hard on Marco and the club, since I did at least show up and work. I wonder if Katia has ever faced this situation with Gustav, and how she reacted. Considering that she's still employed by the club... Probably best not to think about it, though.

I retreat to the changing room, leaving Gustav fuming in the hallway. I change quickly and make for the front door. I'm in luck, as Gustav hasn't followed me to the foyer. I discreetly reach down into the vase where I've hidden the ledger sheet, and tuck it away in my dress. Then, I step outside.

It seems the fate I attempted to avoid earlier tonight has been thrust upon me, as it's dark, very late and I'm in an unfamiliar part of the city, a long way from the inn where I'm staying.

  1. I begin the long trek back. Hopefully all goes well, though I do fear for my safety.
  2. Since I do have some money, I decide to stay at the first inn I come across, I'll go the rest of the way tomorrow once the sun is up.
  3. A couple of party guests are still loitering outside Gustav's manor. One of them approaches me as I exit
