Sarah did not think that she would be able to keep up the pretence of being a princess. It would surely be better to tell the truth.

She took a deep breath. "Look," she said, "I am not your princess. I just happen to look like her, all right? And this man is not holding me captive. I am with him of my own free will, not as a prisoner. I will not have you treating him so cruelly. Even if you hadn't been mistaken on two counts, it still wouldn't have been right for you to act like hoodlums."

  1. Sarah convinces them.
  2. Sarah can't convince them. They think that she must have been put under some enchantment to confuse her mind, so that she would not try to escape from her captor.
