What About Teran?

I explain the situation to Don. (Zal and Nadia already know) "So, this man helped you escape from Artazia previously. You came looking for me in Laralia, and then my father paid him to help you return here to locate me?" I nod.

"Teran is a mercenary. He knew the risks involved when he took the jobs, both of them." Don says.

"Yes, but still, he now has a bounty on his head as a result! Isn't there something we can do to help him?"

"He's probably gone into hiding." Zal offers. "He's worked in Artazia for years, and knows the city well. It's also possible he's already left, especailly if he learned you've been captured and your own bounty collected."

Zal continues: "I will ask my brother to help us. He knows.... certain individuals who could probably get ahold of Teran if he's still in the city. I'll have Yunis pass along word to Teran that you and Don are safe. That way, if he's still looking for you two, he'll know that you're ok and he can focus on his own well being. It's really the best we can do for him. Trying to find him ourselves would be nearly impossible, and would open you up to discovery again. I agree with Don that you should probably leave Artazed with all due haste." While not completely satisfied, I am swayed enough by his rational argument to agree.

"That can wait until morning, at least." Nadia interjects. "We all need some sleep, and Harry needs to get herself cleaned up." I look down at my bloodstained garment and nod in agreement. We make it back to the tavern a few minutes later. I am granted first use of the bath and eagerly wash away the dried blood from my skin, scrubbing as I never have before.

Nadia lends me a nightgown, and I soon drift off to sleep in the spare room upstairs, that would have been mine if I had stayed employed as a barmaid. [2080] Don is in the guest room downstairs, and Zal and Nadia sleep in their respective bedrooms.

1. I wake up, well rested, the following morning. I prepare to say my goodbyes to Zal and Nadia and head back to Laralia.
2. I wake up in the middle of the night after a vivid and terrible nightmare (perhaps related to my killings of Maris and his henchman) Seeking comfort, I go pay a visit to Don.
3. There is a banging on the tavern door a few hours later that wakes us all. Zal groggily answers the door - It's Teran!
