To the proprieter Zal and "Ilsa",

If you want to see your friends again, you will meet me at midnight tonight on Market St. Come alone and unarmed. We will negotiate for their freedom from there. If you deviate from these instructions, your friends will be punished severely.

Maris

Zal spits on the floor and swears loudly. I feel my own fists clench as anger and fear for my friends wells up inside me. I think back to the opportunity I had to kill Maris, [2549] and wish that I had taken it. Whatever was holding me back then is long gone now.

"What do we do now?" I ask, my voice full of emotion.

1. "We have no choice. We'll have to play along with this bastard for now."
2. "We can't just play along, or we could walk right into a trap. We'll have to come up with a plan."
3. There's an unexpected piece of good news for a change: Teran turns up. Perhaps he has some idea on how to help us?
