A Failure of Nerve

You wonder whether to tell him about the dead bodies you found there, at least one of which has now seemingly been miraculously restored to life. But your nerve fails you. "I got lost," you say.

"I see... Try standing up for a moment and putting your weight on your bad leg. If you can do so without too much pain then almost certainly all you have is severe bruising and the kneecap isn't broken. Though I ought to x-ray it just in case."

You do as he bids.

1. It's not too bad. His cold pack has evidently done its stuff in reducing the swelling and deadening the nerves.
2. You let out a gasp of pain, and quickly sink back into your chair.
