Not knowing what to do about my situation, or how to get back to the
supermarket so I can buy food with my food stamps, I walk down the short
passage on my left, hoping to see if I can
determine how to get back home from this unfamiliar setting. The
passage leads to a large open room.
Inside the room, there is a large sign that says Welcome to the Quarterville Television Studios. I have never heard of Quarterville. There are several booths with various activities or demonstrations. There is a large screen on the wall which depicts a Charlie Chaplin movie where Charlie is dressed as a policeman and is standing next to a police call box. Next to Charlie is a big brute. Charlie tries to pick up the receiver, only to drop it when the big brute threatens to catch him red handed. In the room are a lot of people. I look around and a booth catches my attention. It is an employment booth. Why did the employment booth catch my attention? The reason is that I would love to be on public television or in a movie but, for some reason, no one would hire me. Hollywood Studios say that there is someone better who is more qualified for the job or whatever. Well, maybe if I could get a job here, I won't have a reason to go back home to the land of unemployment. So I walk up to the employment booth. Behind a counter is a burly man dressed in a red shirt with a Quarterback Television logo above its pocket and blue jeans. He appears to be very pleasant. He says: "Hi, sir, are you interested in getting a job with Quarterback Television?" "Yes I am," I say. "What do I need to do to get a job?" "Just fill out a form. Basically it's first come first serve, so if you can do the job, you got it. There are four openings available." Great! How did I manage to land a job so quickly? Which one of the openings should I take?
