"Sorry, the highest coin we normally take here is silver. You'll need to
spend at least 5 silvers if you want me to change that for you." The
bartender says. He narrows his eyes with suspicion. "Now, how do you
intend
to pay for your drink?"
Thinking quickly, I draw a single gold coin from the pouch. "I'll buy a round for the house, then, and continue doing so until five silvers are spent." The bartender smiles. "Very well then." He takes the gold coin and returns to me five silvers. I realize that at 1-2 coppers per drink, the dozen or so patrons will be drinking on the house for the next couple of hours. When the bartender makes the announcement, a raucous cheer rises up in my direction. I nurse my drink over the next hour or so, eventually finishing and being automatically served another, per my own instructions. As the only female in the bar, I get a lot of attention from the patrons, but nothing too bad, like at the Laralain tavern. One young man in particular seems to fancy me, but I keep him at arm's length, making only small talk when I have to talk at all. After the incident in Laralia, I'm not taking any chances. I make sure to keep my robe securely attached, and one hand on the coin pouch at all times.
